Poland 0-1 Nigeria
The Nigerian super eagle on Friday gave a surprise victory over Poland in a friendly match right in Wroclaw home to their host Poland.
Althought both team came out with full force in the first half, no goal was recorded
Poland came close to scoring when Nigerian defender Leon Balogun denied them, Poland felt it should have been ruled a goal but the referee thought otherwise.
Chelsea winger Victor Moses sealed the deal in the 61st minuite after he was brought down in the 18 yard box, he had no choice but to convert it which he did with style, placing the ball into the corner of the net leaving the goal keeper Bartosz Bialkowski helpless as he tried to go the other way and watch the ball roll into the other side of the net.
The polish team tried every possible way to equalize but the super eagles was not going to allow that.
Bayern Muniche star Robert Lewandowski was denied by the woodwork and even had a close-range shot blocked by young Nigerian goalkeeper Francis Uzoho in the second half.
1-0 it ended in favor of Nigeria, and although the super eagles still got a lot of work to be done before the world cup in Russia, it boosted their confidence defeating the team that ranked sixth in the world.
With few months before the world cup, Nigeria is confident to face Croatia in the first round as they believe that they play a similar pattern of football as the polish team
Another team that went all out to defeat their host was Brazil who had a 3-0 victory over world cup host Russia.
With Miranda opening the score sheet in the 53rd minute, Philippe Coutinho made it doubled in 10 minutes later after been awarded a penalty, Paulinho sealed the deal with a header in the 66th minute to make Brazil triumph over host Russia.
The friendly continues today as other African countries are set to take on their fellow European counterparts.
