Kelechi Iheanacho Faces Jail Term For Lying To US Court
Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho is facing jail term for lying to a Pennsylvania court in a case with his former representatives.
Iheanacho and Eleven Management for two years have been in a legal tussle over contractual issues.
The Manchester City striker pulled out of a contract with Eleven Management to sign with Stellar Management who represent Real Madrid star, Gareth Bale.
Eleven Management have been battling to get some money from the image rights which they claimed to have negotiated for Iheanacho before he pulled out of the contract.
The Manchester City striker had however denied being in any contract with Eleven Management to the court. The striker claims that he didn’t know or spend time with Henry Galeano who is the registered FIFA-licensed agent of Eleven Management.
The UK Sun have however published photos which proved that Iheanacho indeed met and spent lots of time with Galeano.
According to the report, the court in Pennsylvania has also gotten hold of the photos.
In a photo obtained by the UK Sun, Iheanacho is seen with Galeano which was dated just two days after Iheanacho’s 18th birthday in October 2014.
Iheanacho is said to have met his agent during Manchester City’s pre-season tour of the United States in the summer of 2014.
He also met Galeano in New Zealand in 2015 while representing Nigeria at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup and at the Etihad Stadium while signing a new contract with Manchester City after he turned 18.
In other photos seen by the court, Iheanacho is seen in a restaurant with Galeano and Robert Zanicky who is the co-owner of Eleven Management.
If found to be lying to the court, Iheanacho could be charged with unsworn falsification which is a jail able offence under Pennsylvania Law.
Galeano is claiming that he and Iheanacho signed a Representative Contract in July 2013.
